Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention. (Sir Francis Bacon)

Ten Big Ones (Janet Evanovich)

Stephanie Plum's done it this time. Thanks to her disastrous sense of timing, she's managed to make herself the target of a gang's imported hit man. The good news is that she gets to hide away in Ranger's bat cave. The bad news is that she has to move out of Morelli's house. (I'd personally have just as tough a time picking one or the other.) Along the way she manages to nab a naked Slayer, hire a cross-dressing wedding planner for her sister's wedding to Koughn, and eat enough donuts to make even the reader gain weight.

My favorite scene: tasering Ranger's man.

Car count: two.
